They hunt endlessly for proofs, and, when proofs are lacking, for mere suspicions. The moment they become aware of a definite citizen, John Doe, seeking what is his right under the law, they begin searching feverishly for an excuse for withholding it from him."-H. L. Mencken

Ron Paul vs. Michael Moore on ‘Larry King Live’
Posted by David Kramer on October 29, 2009 09:50 PM
Lew Rockwell Blog

Notice that Larry makes the same mistake that most non-Libertarians (including myself when I was a far-Left Liberal) make: He thinks of the government as some monolithic entity rather than it being made up of human beings. He doesn’t understand that if he and millions of others are concerned about the less fortunate, it would be much more efficient for himself and those others to start their own voluntary charitable services rather than leaving it up to the inefficient forced monopoly of government to perform those services. He also believes the lie (which I did too) that there’s a difference when a group of people calling themselves ‘the government’ forcibly takes money from you (through taxation) than when an individual (i.e., a robber) forcibly takes money from you. Trying to justify this difference with, “But the government is doing it for a good purpose, unlike a robber” doesn’t work. It’s not up to some other person(s) to decide what is “a good purpose”—and then force you to give your own money to it. It’s your decision to determine what is a “good purpose” for which you want to donate your money. Of course, as I always like to concede, if you feel you want the government to take care of your charitable giving—fine, but I don’t want the government to take care of my charitable giving. Please grant me the same concession.

'Little Buddy' GPS device keeps tabs on your kid
October 27, 2009
Sandra Guy, Chicago Sun-Times

Best Buy is selling a transmitting device that lets parents keep track of their children. Parents can place the device in a child's backpack or lunch box, for example.

The "Little Buddy Child Tracker" retails for $100 (far less than other devices that sell for $200 to $500). It combines global satellite positioning and cellular technology to signal the child's whereabouts to a computer or smartphone.

Parents can program the device to set up specific times and locations where the child is supposed to be -- in school or at home, for example -- and the device sends a text message if the child leaves the site in that time.

The device immediately drew angry writeups from some techies, who called it a reason for children to run away from home.

So if you get these for your kids, does CPS smash it when they kidnap the kids?

Weight Gain Associated With Antipsychotic Drugs
By DUFF WILSON
Published: October 27, 2009
New York Times

Young children and adolescents who take the newest generation of antipsychotic medications risk rapid weight gain and metabolic changes that could lead to diabetes, hypertension and other illnesses, according the biggest study yet of first-time users of the drugs.

The study, to be published Wednesday in The Journal of the American Medical Association, found that 257 young children and adolescents in New York City and on Long Island added 8 to 15 percent to their weight after taking the pills for less than 12 weeks.

The patients, ages 4 to 19, added an average of one to one-and-a-half pounds a week.

“The degree of weight gain is alarming,” said Dr. Wayne K. Goodman, head of a Food and Drug Administration advisory panel on the drugs last summer and chairman of psychiatry at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Manhattan. “The magnitude is stunning,” he said.

Although the drugs’ influence on weight and metabolism had been previously detected, Dr. Goodman, who was not involved in the study, said the speed and magnitude of the effects found in the study were greater than previously reported — findings he said were made possible by looking exclusively at new patients.

The four drugs in the study, the most popular antipsychotic medications, are industry blockbusters, with combined sales of $12.7 billion last year. And while all four caused weight gain, there were differences in the extent of the side effects. Among them, Zyprexa, made by Eli Lilly & Company, showed the most severe effects on weight and metabolism. The study’s authors, and an accompanying JAMA editorial, called for closer monitoring of patients taking the drugs, as well as additional long-term studies.

The drugs are prescribed for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and a broad range of less serious psychological conditions. (such as behavioral problems, but mostly just for Social Security and Medicare FRAUD) Their use by children and teenagers has been rising steadily. A 2008 study found that patients under 19 years old accounted for 15 percent of antipsychotic drug use in 2005, compared with 7 percent in 1996.

Dallas News

Child Protective Services is holding a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. to commemorate the opening of its newest office. State Sen. Royce West will attend the ceremony.

A press release from CPS says the new office at 1111 Ledbetter Dr., "is opening as part of a concerted effort to address the needs of the community in the 75216 ZIP Code."

According to CPS: Research has shown that issues of poverty, teen pregnancy and crime contribute to higher numbers of Child Protective Services investigations in this area of South Dallas. Residents in the 75216 ZIP Code die younger than in other areas of Dallas. In 2005, only 48% of residents aged 25 and older finished High School compared to 70% for the rest of the city of Dallas. Also, the crime rates were higher in this area of South Dallas than in other areas. Residential personal crime was five times the city rate.

The office will house 28 CPS staffers.

Warning to all residents in 75216 zip code area- Be afraid.  Be very afraid. The Organized Crime Ring is setting up shop in YOUR neighborhood to "Make you an offer you can't refuse".  I am mystified at how the state criminals are going to fix local criminals.  Or ANY problem, for that matter.

The Child Thief by Brom

California Literary Review

A Very Dark Version of Peter Pan

In the opening pages of The Child Thief, a young girl cowers as her father moves about their house. She knows that soon he will come to her bedroom and do terrible things to her and there is no one who can stop him now that her mother has committed suicide.

This night, however, the child thief who calls himself “Peter” comes to the house to take her away and take his revenge on the father, knifing him between the ribs. The child thief has golden eyes and pointed ears and is very particular about the kind of children he hunts and claims. He looks for the lost ones, the sad ones, the ones in need of help. He offers them a choice that is not necessarily better than the life they know though, and once they’ve made their choice—there is no going back.

Writer/illustrator Brom has created an intricate mythology in this dark fantasy, a beautiful but deadly wonderland cobbled up from bits and pieces of stories we’ve heard since childhood.  FULL BOOK REVIEW

Alleged child trafficking ring smashed in China
October 25, 2009 -- Updated 0938 GMT (1738 HKT)
STORY HIGHLIGHTS

    * 19 boys, 33 girls bought from rural families in Shanxi, Hebei in past two years
    * Xinhua: 42 suspects earned about $60,000 overall from the alleged trafficking
    * China has a one-child policy, forcing some parents to sell female babies

Beijing, China (CNN) -- Chinese authorities arrested dozens in an alleged child trafficking ring that sold at least 52 babies nationwide, state media said.

Nineteen boys and 33 girls were bought from impoverished rural families in Shanxi and Hebei provinces in the past two years, Xinhua news agency said.

The 42 suspects earned about $60,000 overall from the alleged trafficking, Xinhua said Friday.

The ring started crumbling after three men were arrested with a baby boy in their van, Xinhua said. The three said they had bought the baby from a woman and her daughter in Hebei, according to Xinhua.

The women had sold 12 other babies to the men, and were arrested, Xinhua said.

China has a one-child policy, forcing some parents to sell female babies in order to try for a boy, who are preferred traditionally.

Here in the good ole USSA, the state just kidnaps the kids and destroys the parents through legal abuse.  We are so much more advanced in socialism than backwards profit-motivated China.

SURAT: For them the Gujarati adage Dikri vahal no dariyo' (daughter is the ocean of love) is a fact of life. With most of the 180 urbanite families here preferring a girl child, it might just be time for NGOs to campaign for the cause of the boy child!

As per a survey conducted by local NGO Anees, 90 per cent of young couples want a girl child. The rest say they would be happy with either boy or girl. But, the survey of the urban upper middle-class in Surat, reveals that nobody particularly wants a son.

Says Geeta Shroff, who runs Anees and works for the cause of beti bachao and destitute women, "We are worried about this. If this trend in favour of the girl child continues, there will be problems. So, we have decided to work for the cause of the boy child."

Take the cases of high-profile professionals. They share a common bond - love for their daughters. Says well-known ophthalmologist Dr Yogesh Desai, "The bias against a girl child is slowly disappearing from our society. I wanted daughters and I have been blessed. The simple reason is they lend better emotional support when most required in old age."  FULL STORY

Anchorage social worker held on child porn charges

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- As a therapist, he was supposed to help children heal. Instead, police say Lt. Commander Andrew William Young had the largest amount of child porn internet investigators within the department have ever seen.

For the last year, Young has worked with the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps on Elmendorf Air Force Base. He's a senior officer, a licensed clinical therapist who specializes in helping children and teens.

But now, instead of helping children, investigators fear he might have done the worst.

...Police broke the news by computer, accusing 46-year-old Young of using his computer to commit crimes against children. They say his hard drive contained hundreds of thousands of images of child sexual abuse.

"It can be considered like a stepping stone to actually physically harming a child," said Detective Tammy Dunn, "Because of that reason we were extremely concerned when discovering Mr. Young is associated with children. His entire career as a therapist is around children and only children."

Young worked with children both here in Alaska, and across the globe as a child therapist.

"Texas, Florida, Virginia, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Germany and Iraq," said Det. Mark Thomas, listing the locations of Young's patients.  FULL STORY

..."Another high-risk situation involves high-status authority figures. As stated above, child molesters sometimes use their adult authority to give them an edge in the seduction process. Adults with an added authority (e.g., teachers, camp counselors, coaches, religious leaders, law-enforcement officers, doctors, judges [DA and child protection attorneys]) present even greater problems in the investigation of these cases. Such offenders are in a better position to seduce and manipulate victims and escape responsibility."

Luzerne's youth-court scandal: How? Why?
By William Ecenbarger
For The Philadelphia Inquirer

WILKES-BARRE - In October 2005, a 16-year-old boy appeared in Luzerne County Court to answer charges that he had shot out several windows in a city home with a BB gun. The boy had never been in trouble with police before, and even the homeowner asked the judge to be lenient, according to a federal lawsuit.

Nevertheless, Judge Mark A. Ciavarella, after repeatedly silencing the boy's court-appointed attorney, ignored the homeowner's request and in a matter of minutes banged his gavel and said, "Adjudicated delinquent!"

The boy was handcuffed, shackled, and taken in a van about 50 miles to a juvenile "boot camp" for the next three months, the complaint states.

The boy's brief hearing in dark-paneled Courtroom 4 was closed to the public, but it was witnessed by an assistant district attorney, the public defender, other lawyers, probation officials, bailiffs, clerks, and other court staff, according to the suit, filed by the Juvenile Law Center of Philadelphia.

Now the monumental task facing a special 11-member commission investigating what one advocacy group called "one of the largest and most serious violations of children's rights in the history of the American legal system" (no, pretty much common-place) is to determine how something like that could happen, how it can be prevented - and why no one spoke up. (judges are immune, too powerful, and very dangerous)

State Superior Court Judge John M. Cleland, chairman of the Interbranch Commission on Juvenile Justice, said the goal is to identify "those who knew but failed to speak" and "those who saw but failed to act."  FULL STORY

Lawsuit faults state for failing to detect abuse of foster child

Oregon- Foster parents from Cottage Grove, a Springfield-based state caseworker and the state Department of Human Services are being sued for $1.6 million after a foster child suffered injuries from a beating so severe that he required hospitalization, according to court papers filed this week.

The lawsuit was filed in Multnomah County on Tuesday by lawyers representing the 4-year-old boy, who is identified in the complaint as “B.C.”

The suit contends that in November 2008, while in the care of foster parents Keith and Nelly Burr, the boy, then 3, suffered a severe brain injury that involved internal bleeding, as well as a lacerated spleen. By the time he arrived at a hospital emergency room, the child’s body temperature was dangerously below normal, according to the lawsuit. Medical personnel there reported bruises in various stages of healing on his knees, thighs, buttocks, back, ankle, forehead and penis, the court papers said.

The lawsuit also alleges that state Department of Human Services child welfare caseworker Joann Turner failed to document previous injuries or to investigate their cause. FULL STORY

2 ‘Caged Teens’ Sue Adoptive Parents
Associated Press
Published: October 22, 2009

CLEVELAND—Two Ohio teenagers forced to sleep in cages have sued their adoptive parents and caseworkers who arranged the adoptions.

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court in Cleveland on behalf of 18-year-old Sharen and 17-year-old Michael Gravelle.

They were named for their adoptive parents, who are now serving two-year prison terms for abusing some of their 11 adopted special-needs children.

The suit also targets caseworkers and the Hamilton County Department of Job and Family Services in Cincinnati. The suit says the Gravelles were unfit to be parents and should never have gotten custody of the children.

The prosecutor’s office which handles legal matters for the county agency had no immediate comment Thursday.

Police: Foster Children Plotted to Kill Foster Parents
Posted: Oct 19, 2009 7:15 PM PDT Updated: Oct 19, 2009 8:34 PM PDT
By Kirsten McIntyre, NEWS 9

WOODWARD, Oklahoma -- Two foster parents were attacked by their foster children, and the father said he’s lucky to be alive.

Investigators say the girls, 16-year-old Ashley Jewel and 15-year-old Kelsey Beams, plotted to kill their foster parents.

Robert and Barbara Parker have been foster parents for DHS for four years. The two teens are among the many children they’ve taken into their care. Ashley has been the Parker’s foster child for two years while Kelsey was in their care for two months.

Robert Parker is a pastor. His family was in the process of resigning from his church in Henrietta and moving back to Woodward. He planned to start a street ministry in the area.

The Parkers had come to Woodward to work on house that they own. While staying the night, Robert woke up around 1 a.m. saying he heard a bang and saw a flash. It took a few seconds before Robert and Barbara Parker realized he’d been shot.

Police say the two girls wanted to kill the couple because they wanted to be free from DHS custody.

Police think Kelsey was mastermind and manipulated Ashley into shooting Robert Parker. According to the police report, Ashley fired a shot at Robert Parker. The gun jammed when she tried to shoot her foster mother Barbara.

Police said Kelsey had a second gun, but it had the wrong bullets in it so it never would have worked.

The bullet hit Robert in the rib. It’s still lodged in his chest and doctor’s say it shouldn’t cause any issues.

Because of the circumstances surrounding the incident and where the bullet hit, Robert and Barbara Parker believe it’s a miracle he’s alive.

The girls will be charged as youthful offenders, among their charges is shooting with intent to kill.

UK Social Workers Set To Snatch Baby At Birth
Murray Wardrop, Daily Telegraph
Published: 3:57PM BST 18 Oct 2009

A mother-to-be, who was banned from marrying after social workers said she is not intelligent enough, is to have her baby taken away immediately after giving birth. Kerry Robertson, 17, who has mild learning difficulties, has been told that she will not be allowed to bring up her own child, who she has already named Ben. She has now been warned that she will only be allowed a few hours with her baby, which is due in January, before it is taken into foster care. Mr McDougall, an artist, said he wants to take on full responsibility for his son but claims that he is powerless because he is not married to Miss Robertson. He added: “Social Services are ruining our lives. As we are not married – because social workers would not let us marry – it seems I have no rights as a dad at all."  FULL STORY

White Children were the FIRST Slaves in US

Don Jordan and Michael Walsh are the English authors of White Cargo: The Forgotten History of Britain’s White Slaves in America (New York, New York University Press, 2008)

There, you will learn that those white “indentured servants” were in fact slaves just as much as the blacks, enslaved in conditions just as bad, and that white slaves were imported into this country almost as long as blacks.  Indeed, the first slaves imported into the American colonies were 100 white children unaccompanied by parents. They arrived during Easter, 1619, four months before the arrival of a much more infamous shipment of black slaves. (P. 76)

Sometimes, the slavers literally tore children from the arms of their parents. White Cargo tells us: “. . . No child from either the town or the surrounding countryside seems to have been safe from the merchants’ agents. They operated openly and with impunity. When parents who had lost their children came looking for them in the town, their elation at finding them still incarcerated awaiting embarkation was short lived on their discovery that they were powerless to bring their children home. . . .” (Pp. 237-38)

The kidnappers were paying off the local judges. Most parents could not afford to pay for the food their kiddos had consumed while prisoners. That’s right! The parents had to pay for that. They had to watch in impotent horror as their children were marched aboard slave ships and sent away to the colonies forever.

Sounds exactly like Children's "Protective" "Services" doesn't it?

CAS spends too much on litigation
Michael P. Clarke
The Hamilton Spectator
Hamilton, Ontario Canada
(Oct 16, 2009)

Re: 'Budget crunch slams CAS' (Oct. 14)

I have practised family law in Hamilton for more than 20 years. I have participated in dozens of court hearings on behalf of parents subject to "child protection" proceedings. I am always struck by the zeal with which the lawyers for our local Children's Aid Society and Catholic Children's Aid Society fight for what they perceive are the child's "best interests."

Compromise is difficult and inflexibility is the norm. The cases drag on in even the simplest matters. Many colleagues have expressed frustration at how aggressive the local societies have become in prosecuting these cases. There is huge cost to the families (including the children), financially and emotionally.

Their funding issues could be easily met, in my view, if the societies redirected their efforts from prosecution and toward providing real, concrete assistance. Too often, society social workers spend their time drafting affidavits, sitting in court and preparing for litigation instead of in the field, helping families and children in crisis.

Litigating is the most expensive option. It is too often chosen by the societies as the first resort. When I started practising in Hamilton in 1988, there was one lawyer handling all the child protection cases for both societies. Occasionally, a local lawyer was hired to take a trial. Now, there are close to 20 lawyers working for both societies. This shows the emphasis of the societies has been on litigation, not remediation. These lawyers are very good and very expensive.

I suggest that instead of trying to scare the public and policy-makers with threats of "having difficulty responding to high-risk child abuse allegations (unless we get more money)," they should try to manage their budgets more effectively.

Fewer lawyers and more empathetic and caring social workers are the answer.

This lawyer hit the nail on the head.  As the colloquialism goes: "There's your problem".  This is the mode of operation of CPS in every westernized country in the world.

Record-setting madness for September.

What is $1.42 trillion? It’s more than the total national debt for the first 200 years of the Republic, more than the entire economy of India, almost as much as Canada’s, and more than $4,700 for every man, woman and child in the United States.

It’s the federal budget deficit for 2009, more than three times the most red ink ever amassed in a single year.

And, some economists warn, unless the government makes hard decisions to cut spending or raise taxes, it could be the seeds of another economic crisis.

…The Congressional Budget Office projects that the nation’s debt held by investors both at home and abroad will increase by $9.1 trillion over the next decade, pushing the total to $17.1 trillion decade under Obama’s spending plans.

"The state remains, as it was in the beginning, the common enemy of all well-disposed, industrious and decent men." -- H. L. Mencken (1880-1956) American Journalist, Editor, Essayist, Linguist, Lexicographer, and Critic

"The misapprehension springs from the fact that the learned jurists, deceiving themselves as well as others, depict in their books an ideal of government -- not as it really is, an assembly of men who oppress their fellow-citizens, but in accordance with the scientific postulate, as a body of men who act as the representatives of the rest of the nation. They have gone on repeating this to others so long that they have ended by believing it themselves, and they really seem to think that justice is one of the duties of governments. History, however, shows us that governments, as seen from the reign of Caesar to those of the two Napoleons and Prince Bismarck, are in their very essence a violation of justice; a man or a body of men having at command an army of trained soldiers, deluded creatures who are ready for any violence, and through whose agency they govern the State, will have no keen sense of the obligation of justice. Therefore governments will never consent to diminish the number of those well-trained and submissive servants, who constitute their power and influence." -- Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoi (1828-1910) Russian writer Source: Writings on Civil Disobedience and Non-Violence (Signet Books, 1968), pp. 238-239.

Most States Fail to Adequately Protect the Legal Rights of Abused Children, New Study Finds

Second Edition State-By-State Report Card Shows Improving Grades in Some States; Most Leave Children's Voices Muted in Legal Proceedings That Decide Their Fate

Stronger State/Federal Laws Needed

News Conference Today At 1pm (EDT), U.S. Capitol Building - Room H-137

WASHINGTON, Oct. 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Most U.S. states do not adequately protect the rights of (allegedly) abused and neglected children, leaving our most vulnerable (as if everybody else isn't) citizens exposed to the vagaries of the juvenile court system without adequate legal representation, according to a state-by-state study conducted by two national child advocacy organizations.

The peer-reviewed study -- A Child's Right to Counsel: A National Report Card on Legal Representation for Abused and Neglected Children (PDF- Size 9 Megs)-- was released today on Capitol Hill by First Star and the Children's Advocacy Institute at the University of San Diego School of Law (CAI). To view the full report, visit www.firststar.org, or www.caichildlaw.org.

"The federal government reported that nearly 800,000 children were abused or neglected in 2007," said Amy Harfeld, Executive Director of First Star. "In the current economic recession, these children are suffering more than ever - reports of child abuse have skyrocketed while resources to help them have been placed in jeopardy. Most of these children will go through court proceedings that will determine their lives and futures. Yet while the state and the allegedly abusive or neglectful parent stand in court with attorneys by their sides, the children often stand alone and silent. They are herded through the system without a strong voice to advocate on their behalf. This is a troubling double-standard."  FULL STORY

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Yakima and Catholic Family & Child Service of the Tri Cities are receiving a $900,000 federal grant to change the child welfare system in Central and Eastern Washington.

The grant was bestowed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families. It is renewable for three years -- assuming benchmark goals are achieved. An additional $225,000 was pledged for each of the three years by other funding partners.

This was the only grant bestowed to Washington state, and it's expected to serve 840 youths.

"This is all about foster kids," said John Young, executive director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Yakima. "Twenty-four of us in the country got this grant. We feel pretty good about that."

The funding benefits a wide swath of the region, including Yakima, Kittitas, Franklin and Benton counties.

Catholic Charities will work with CFCS, Casey Family Programs and the Yakama Nation to establish the Family Connections Demonstration Project.

The project calls for helping kinship and tribal caregivers navigate complex governmental and regulatory systems. Aggressive efforts will be made to locate and place children with blood relatives, and decisions regarding children will be made by bringing together care givers and other institutional players.

The overarching mission is to reduce the number of children in state custody, as well as to shorten their length of stay in the system, said Maureen McGrath, agency director of CFCS in the Tri Cities.

She hopes the data will serve as a blueprint to be replicated in other areas of the state and the nation.

"The goals of the project really mirror the goals of Adoption and Safe Families Act, which is safety, permanency and well being for children," McGrath said. "This will breathe new life into the system."
Oh really?

Seems strange that this grant is for exactly what CPS is required by LAW to do in order to collect the MONEY.

DELAWARE SCHOOL BACKS DOWN AFTER OUTCRY OVER BAN ON PUPIL WITH LUNCH KNIFE

Zachary Christie, the latest poster boy for a movement to soften zero-tolerance rules on weapons in American schools, had been suspended from his elementary school for 45 days and ordered to attend a special establishment for wayward children. His offence: a “Level 3” violation of the school’s code of conduct on the possession, concealment or sale of dangerous instruments.

His suspension was overturned on Tuesday night at an extraordinary meeting of his school board attended by angry parents and every major US news organization. After the meeting, one board member admitted: “We got egg on our face.” His triumphant mother said that she looked forward to telling her son “that he has a voice, and when things are not right he can stand up and speak out against them”.

Obama calls for $250 payments to seniors
Oct 14, 8:59 PM (ET)
By STEPHEN OHLEMACHER

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama called on Congress Wednesday to approve $250 payments to more than 50 million seniors to make up for no increase in Social Security next year. The Social Security Administration is scheduled to announce Thursday that there will be no cost of living increase next year. By law, increases are pegged to inflation, which has been negative this year.

It would mark the first year without an increase in Social Security payments since automatic adjustments were adopted in 1975.

"Even as we seek to bring about recovery, we must act on behalf of those hardest hit by this recession," Obama said in a statement. "This additional assistance will be especially important in the coming months, as countless seniors and others have seen their retirement accounts and home values decline wiped out as a result of this economic crisis."  FULL STORY

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A woman who stepped down from the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare after the death of a 13-month-old will start her new job in Olympia as head of our state’s Children’s Administration.

Denise Revels Robinson was appointed to be head of Washington’s Children’s Administration in the Department of Social and Health Services and will start on Monday, but the union representing state child welfare workers has serious concerns about her.

"It was a bit of a shock that she was being recruited," said Tim Welch of Washington Federation of State Employees.

Revels Robinson stepped down last year as head of Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare after 13-month-old Christopher Thomas was beaten to death by his aunt after being left in her care by social workers despite numerous warning signs.  FULL STORY

LAWSUIT FILED TO HALT SWINE FLU VACCINE DISTRIBUTION

WASHINGTON – With the U.S. Food and Drug Administration scheduled to begin nationwide delivery this week of swine flu vaccine to 90,000 government-approved locations, attorney James Turner filed a complaint Friday in federal court in the District of Columbia for a Temporary Restraining Order to halt the distribution, licensing and use of four controversial vaccines -- including their use under an existing Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) -- until there has been adequate safety testing and a full opportunity for public hearings.

The suit challenges the Sept. 15 licensing of four swine flu vaccines, alleging that the FDA violated the law in its hurried approval by failing to determine the safety and efficacy of the vaccines as required by law since 1964.

Turner told NewsWithViews that none of the procedures that should have been done, and that make up a formal administrative record, had been done.  FULL STORY

Montana judges smack down parental rights
Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 10/13/2009 6:00:00 AM

The Montana Supreme Court has granted parental rights to a non-parent.

For ten years, two women lived together in a lesbian relationship, during which one of them -- Barbara Maniaci -- solely adopted two children. But in 2006, Maniaci left her roommate and the homosexual lifestyle, and later married a man. Following the break-up, the former roommate sued for -- and now has won -- parental rights.

Austin Nimocks, senior legal counsel with the Alliance Defense Fund, tells OneNewsNow that Montana's highest court decided to uphold the demands of a legal stranger.

"What the Montana Supreme Court did was give a third party -- the parent's former roommate and girlfriend -- parental rights...," says the attorney. "And it runs contrary to clear precedent dating back several years in Montana and the United States Supreme Court. [It's] a very, very disturbing decision."

He says that historically courts have upheld the rights of "fit natural" parents. "When we undermine the rights of fit natural parents, it causes harm to families and children," argues Nimocks. "Giving strangers and third parties access to kids is not in the best interest of children or families."

In making the decision, Nimocks contends the court undermines the rights of parents to control the upbringing of their children and to make sure that their authority is the final authority.

One of the dissenting judges in Montana wrote that the decision in favor of a third party "will open a Pandora's Box of potential attacks upon the right of fit and capable parents to raise their own children."

Everything is messed up with this case.  Did you notice that the children were ADOPTED to begin with?  The Parental Rights had ALREADY been "given to a third party".  What about the Parental Rights of the REAL parents?  What about Kinship Preference?

"When you are morally disordered, you eventually get into the situation where you must sacrifice your liberty for the sake of order. No free society can survive when it has lost its self-control, its self- discipline, and the foundation of real authority in that society. And the Declaration states for us that foundation: our freedom comes from God; it must be respected out of respect for the authority of God." - Alan Keyes

El Paso County Sued In Death Of Foster Child
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- The estate of a 2-year-old girl who died while in foster care in El Paso County is suing the county.

Alize (Al-uh-ZAY') Vick died last week, a day after suffering what a neurosurgeon described as a "violent blow to the head." Her foster mother, Jules Lynn Cuneo, was later arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and felony child abuse.

In a lawsuit filed in federal court, the estate's representative, Mark Elliott alleges that social workers ignored warning signs about possible abuse in the foster home.

The county's Department of Human Services declined comment on the lawsuit.

"There are more than half a million children and youth in the U.S. foster care system today. Studies reveal that children are 11 times more likely to be abused in state care than they are in their own homes, and 7 times more likely to die as a result of abuse in the foster care system."-- John Walsh Show April 16, 2003

Often these children leave their homes with only a garbage bag to hold their clothes and favorite toys, the most are routinely tossed from one temporary placement to another, often ten or twenty times during their most formative, vulnerable years. This is the continuing saga of crimes against Foster children. Children are dying, inside and out...

This is an OUTRAGE!  And the greater outrage is- this is not an unusual occurrence. This IS how CPS operates in every state of the US and every westernized country in the world.

A longtime champion of homeschooling rights around the globe, Home School Legal Defense Association Senior Counsel and Director of State and International Relations Christopher J. Klicka was called home by his Lord on October 12, 2009, at age 48, following a 15-year battle with multiple sclerosis. An attorney, spokesman, lobbyist, and homeschooling husband and father, Chris is survived by his wife, Tracy, their seven children (ages 11–21), and his parents, Ardath and George Klicka.

“Chris was both a people person and a goal person. He cared deeply about people, but was also driven to always do more!” says HSLDA President J. Michael Smith. “He was the most determined person I ever met in my life. Even with all the things he accomplished every day at HSLDA, he continually wanted to tackle new challenges and serve homeschoolers in more and better ways. He was so focused on the homeschooling world, but he was also very much focused on his family and dedicated to raising his children.”

An integral part of Home School Legal Defense Association’s staff for 24 years, Chris was HSLDA’s first full-time employee, first executive director, and first full-time attorney. He believed passionately that homeschooling was the best educational method for children and demonstrated that passion in every area of his life.  FULL STORY

Still tearing families apart in Arlington
By: Barbara Hollingsworth
Washington Examiner Columnist
October 13, 2009

What a farce. Arlington County recently received $187,600 in state tobacco settlement money to fund its "Strengthening Families Program." How much of it will be used to identify at-risk families so that Arlington judges and social workers can tear them apart?

Think that's too harsh? Talk to Nancy Hey (an AFRA member) or Benita Washington, whose parental rights were both terminated on unsubstantiated grounds of medical neglect by Arlington Juvenile Court Judge Esther Wiggins Lyles and Circuit Judge James Almand.

Hey's daughter, Sabrina -- snatched by Arlington social workers when she was just 3 weeks old -- was later adopted by her politically connected foster parents. Washington's 8-year-old son, Moses, also lingered in foster care for three years.

Federal law requires social service agencies to document reasonable efforts to place foster children with next of kin. Adoption is supposed to be a last resort. When I asked Kurt Larrick of Arlington's Child Protective Services why family members had not been given a chance to adopt Moses, now 11, he refused to discuss the case except to say: "We have done everything by the book."  FULL STORY

Child Abuse Investigator Plan Struggles
POSTED: Monday, October 12, 2009
UPDATED: 6:32 pm CDT October 12, 2009
Click2houston.com

HOUSTON -- Texas' plan to hire hundreds of child abuse investigators with law enforcement backgrounds was designed to save children and improve investigative techniques throughout the ranks of Child Protection Services caseworkers.

But four years later, hundreds of the "special investigators" have left the agency amid complaints of culture clash and ineffectiveness, and one-third of the positions are vacant, the Houston Chronicle reported in Monday editions.

The newspaper's review of state records shows that 273 of the 431 investigators hired in the past four years have left.

CPS has been under scrutiny over the investigations into four recent child deaths -- none of which was handled by a special investigator. Three Houston-area children have died from abuse after they had been reported to CPS as possible abuse victims. And last month a 1-year-old Arlington boy died in a hot car; CPS had contacted his family several times and his mother has a history of abuse and neglect.

CPS spokesman Patrick Crimmins said the agency knew there would be challenges assimilating law enforcement types into the agency and acknowledged some friction, but he also said the special investigators are making the agency stronger.

Investigators who have left said the job description was muddled and that there was a major culture clash between the seasoned former law enforcement officers and the often younger and less experienced CPS caseworkersFULL STORY

Investigators: Foster parents feel punished for speaking out
10:42 PM PDT on Monday, October 12, 2009
By SUSANNAH FRAME / KING 5 News

SEATTLE - Nearly 6,000 families in our state have stepped up to the plate to be foster parents, caregivers to abused or neglected children that have been taken away from their parents by the state or law enforcement.

Since the KING 5 Investigators started exposing flaws in the foster care system through the story of a child nicknamed "Poca," dozens of foster parents have contacted KING 5 to say it's risky business, that the state will use its power to turn on foster parents who challenge the system.

Thirty foster parents who feel this way gathered in the KING 5 studios recently for a group interview to tell their stories. Each one had one thing in common: They aggressively advocated for a foster child in their care and feel they paid a price for it.

One woman said her state payments for her foster child were reduced after she spoke out. Another couple said state workers called in bogus licensing violations about them after they challenged decisions made by state social workers.

Several foster parents said when they spoke out they were cut out of the process by not being notified of court dates involving their foster child, despite a state law mandating they be informed of them. Another couple said the twin girls they were set to adopt were ripped away from them without warning after they made waves.

"We didn't get a phone call, they just showed up and said you have five minutes to get these girls ready, we're taking them," said Sandra Ogden of Rainier, Washington. "I'll never forget it. I'll never forget that time and that day. It was like a death."  FULL STORY

Zero Tolerance = Mindlessness
Posted by Butler Shaffer on October 12, 2009 04:55 PM
Lew Rockwell Blog

For years, when asked which governmental program I would most like to see disappear, my answer has been a consistent one: the government school systems. The latest example of the institutionalized child abuse that is synonymous with government schools is that of the 6 year old boy who has been suspended from school, and now faces a 45 day sentence in reform school, for bringing his Cub Scout knife/fork/spoon camping tool to class.

School officials defended this action as an expression of a “zero tolerance” policy regarding anything that could be used as a “weapon.” “Zero tolerance” is but a euphemism for “inability to discriminate.” It being a central purpose of government schools to discourage the development of the capacity for making clear distinctions among competing ideas and values, one must quash any tendency for people to act upon selective judgments whenever the practice raises its ugly head. It used to be the highest compliment to tell another that he or she had a “discriminating” mind; it is now an accusation. If a Cub Scout eating utensil in the hands of a 6 year old is to be distinguished from a machete wielded by a distraught teenager, people – beginning with small children – will get in the habit of using their minds to make independent judgments as to other matters. The Cub Scout must take his punishment, alongside the child who offered a friend a cough-drop (contrary to a “zero tolerance” drug policy), as well as the kindergartner who kissed a classmate on the cheek and faced sexual harassment charges!

“Zero tolerance” policies war against the mind and clear thinking. If children are allowed to grow up with rational, discriminating minds, where will future school administrators be found? Worse yet, how could a political system sustain itself if people begin to question how government officials can win “peace prizes” on the same day they escalate wars?

David Kramer replies on October 12, 2009 05:19 PM

Butler—you wrote: “School officials defended this action as an expression of a “zero tolerance” policy regarding anything [emphasis mine] that could be used as a “weapon.””

Guess what? Ask G. Gordon Liddy or Victor Ostrovksy how even a pen or a pencil can be used as a deadly weapon.

(Uh-oh. Maybe I shouldn’t have posted this blog. Now I’ve just given some public school bureauRAT another policy—or should I say police?—idea.)

Activists call for federal monitor amid The Times' reports of child deaths in county system
October 12, 2009 |  7:19 am
LA TImes

Community activists today are calling for the appointment of a federal monitor to oversee the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services after reports in The Times about the deaths of children in that system.

The Times series has examined flaws in the safety net for children being monitored by the county.

From January 2008 to early August 2009, at least 268 children who had passed through the child welfare system died, according to internal county records obtained by The Times.

The records showed that 213 deaths were the result of unnatural or undetermined causes; 76 were homicides, 35 accidents and 16 suicides. Eighteen of the fatalities were deemed the direct result of abuse or neglect by a caregiver, subjecting them to public disclosure under a recent state law aimed at prevention.

At a press conference today, representatives of several groups in South L.A. including the Los Angeles Civil Right Assn. and Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable will call on Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to step in to make changes at the county agency and provide more funding.  FULL STORY

The Dreaded Cupcake
By ANDREW WOLF | October 10, 2009
The New York Sun

News is in from the front lines of the epidemic afflicting our nation. No, I’m not talking about Swine Flu, which seems to be well under control, but the raging “Childhood Obesity Epidemic,” against which Mayor Bloomberg has just banned the common practice of selling at school fund-raisers the dreaded cupcake. Apple pie, no matter how American, will, I predict, be next.

I don’t know about you, but I sleep better knowing that our children are so much safer, protected from the evils of cupcakes by the mayor’s food police. Now we can breathe easier knowing that fewer of the innocents will get hooked on cupcakes, only a small step on the road to addiction to the harder stuff, such as cinnamon buns. Surely the announcement of the mayor winning Nobel Prize for Medicine is imminent.

....It is easy to poke fun at the often ridiculous initiatives coming from City Hall. But in Britain, there is actual debate over whether parents of chubby children should be prosecuted for child abuse. We’re on a slippery slope, fueled by panic and unsupported by science. At stake is a substantial degree of our individual freedom to make our own decisions, something that should be feared a lot more than a super-sized order of fries.  FULL STORY

With a Consumer Reports poll showing nearly 2/3rds of U.S. parents will hold off on having their children vaccinated with the H1N1 late-2009 season flu vaccine, health authorities are likely to resort to scare tactics as they have in past years to induce parents into having their children vaccinated. You can’t cry wolf every year. The Consumer Reports telephone survey shows 50% of U.S. parents are delaying their decision to have their children vaccinated and another 14% will forego vaccination altogether.

Circuit Mulls Liability of City Caseworkers for Removal Errors
Mark Hamblett
10-08-2009
New York Law Journal

Whether New York City social workers and agency officials should face liability for wrongfully or mistakenly removing children from allegedly abusive homes was at the center of oral arguments yesterday at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Judges Jose A. Cabranes and Roger Miner, and Southern District Judge Jed S. Rakoff, sitting by designation, heard argument in four cases concerning the proper degree of legal  exposure for the city and employees of its Administration for Children's Services (ACS).

Carolyn Kubitschek of Lansner Kubitschek Schaffer & Zuccardy in Manhattan, arguing for parents, foster parents and children who have been wrongfully removed from their homes, called the city agency "out of control."

She contended that agency officials should be liable under federal civil rights law for relying on a doctor criticized for over-reporting child abuse, and that caseworkers should be held liable for prematurely removing a child or failing to act quickly in returning them once the parent or foster parent has been cleared of responsibility for the child's injury.

But in arguing for immunity, Deborah Brenner of the New York City Law Department told the court that caseworkers should not be held liable for decisions they make under pressure.

"Caseworkers walk a very fine line every day," she said. "They have to balance the right of the parent to family integrity" versus the safety of the children.  FULL STORY (PDF format)

Police: Teen running from CPS worker struck by car
By T.J. Aulds
The Daily News
Published October 8, 2009

TEXAS CITY — A 16-year-old girl who police said was trying to run away from a Child Protective Services worker was struck by a car on the Interstate 45 feeder road in Texas City on Wednesday night.

The teen was taken by helicopter to the University of Texas Medical Branch’s John Sealy Hospital.

Sgt. Joe Stanton said the teen was being driven to an unknown location when she told the protective worker she was feeling sick and needed to throw up.

The CPS employee pulled the car over and let the girl get out to vomit, but a few seconds later the teen took off across a median and into a field near Holland Road, police said.

The protective services employee called 911 asking for police assistance in finding the runaway. Before police could get to the scene, the teen reportedly came running back toward the freeway but was struck by a car on the northbound feeder road.

The girl was taken to John Sealy and was reported to be in critical condition, Stanton said. Police had not confirmed where the girl was from or where she was being taken by the protective services staffer.

The feeder road at Holland Road was shut down most the night as investigators mapped out the accident scene.

Child Welfare Worker Accused Of Molesting Teen Boy
RIVERSIDE (CBS) --

Officials say a Riverside County child welfare worker has been accused of taking a teenage boy to his apartment and molesting him while also trying to get the boy intoxicated.  Another homosexual CPS worker.

District Attorney spokesman John Hall says Sean Lamont Birdsong, 37, will face one count each of false imprisonment, sexual assault with intent to rape, lewd acts on a minor and child endangerment.

Birdsong was arrested Sept. 22 and released after posting $50,000 bail, according to jail records.

The county placed Birdsong on administrative leave on Sept. 24, pending the outcome of his case.

"This agency is entrusted to help and protect children and we have no room here for anyone who violates that trust,"* said Susan Loew, the county's director of public social services. "If the allegations are true, this person should suffer the full penalty the law allows." Because he is messing up the scam?

According to Loew, there has been no indication that Birdsong had acted inappropriately with any other children whose cases he handled.

Birdsong was hired Aug. 31, 2006, after passing a background check required by the county as a condition of employment, she said. "There was nothing to indicate he might be a risk to children," Loew said.

Riverside police began investigating Birdsong after a 15-year-old boy alleged the man had touched him inappropriately and tried to get him drunk, according to Hall.

Birdsong had been assigned to the teen's case and was involved in placing him in a Rubidoux foster home, Hall said.

"Birdsong instructed the boy to sneak out of the foster home and meet him down the street, which he did," Hall said. "Birdsong drove to a liquor store, where he purchased a bottle of Bacardi 151, then headed to his (Riverside) apartment."

Once inside, Birdsong allegedly pressed the victim to drink the alcohol, and when the boy resisted, Birdsong told him he was armed and "he had better drink with him," Hall said.

The boy reportedly told Birdsong that "he was scared and ... needed to go outside for a cigarette," Hall said.

When he stepped outside the apartment, the boy approached another resident of the complex, asking her for help, Hall said.

Riverside police officers arrived a short time later and, after questioning the boy and Birdsong, placed the latter under arrest.

*Of course they have LOTS of room.  Violating the trust, being unhelpful, and endangering children is all they do.  CPS is a total FRAUD and Organized Crime Ring, and it's high time for the masses to know it..

Appellate Court reverses child abuse conviction of North Plainfield man
By MICHAEL DEAK • STAFF WRITER • October 7, 2009
My Central New Jersey.com

SOMERVILLE, New Jersey — The conviction of a North Plainfield man on sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child charges has been reversed by a state Appellate Court and returned for a trial in Superior Court.

In a ruling issued Monday, the appeals panel ruled the defendant, identified only as A.J. because the alleged victims were his stepdaughters, was entitled to a new trial because his attorney "performed deficiently, and that her inadequate performance, with reasonable probability, materially contributed to (A.J.'s) conviction."

A.J. was sentenced to 26 years in prison after he was found guilty of engaging in criminal sexual conduct with his two stepdaughters from June 1996 through August 1997 when they were 13 and 16.

The appeal centered on the failure of A.J.'s attorney to fully cross-examine C.J., A.J.'s wife and the mother of the girls, on alleged recantations by the girl about A.J.'s actions.

C.J. had written a letter to the Prosecutor's Office asking the charges be dropped because "the girls have been lying about things that happened," court papers say.

That testimony could have impeached the testimony of the two girls, which was the primary basis for the prosecution's case, the appellate court wrote.

Fraud Problem With Current Government-Run Health Care

Now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine:

Prescription Problems

Amid concerns over a proposed government-run health insurance option, the Government Accountability Office says it has major problems with the current government-run option. A new GAO report says that in fiscal years 2006 and 2007, prescription drug fraud in Medicaid cost more than $63 million in just five states: California, Illinois, New York, North Carolina and Texas.

The report says about 1,800 prescriptions were filled for people who are dead and another 1,200 prescriptions were signed with the names of deceased doctors, costing a half-million dollars: "Medicaid offices in the selected states generally did not periodically compare their information against death records."

Medicaid also paid $2.3million to 65 health care providers and pharmacies, even though they are barred from receiving federal funds.  FULL STORY

And this hardly scratches the surface of the FRAUD.  What will it take to get regulators to look into the CPS Fraud upon Medicare and Social Security?

U.N. report: Child abuse worldwide problem

UNITED NATIONS, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Millions of children worldwide are subject to trafficking, abuse, violence, child labor and other mistreatment, a U.N. report released Tuesday indicated.

"A society cannot thrive if its youngest members are forced into early marriage, abused as sex workers or denied their basic rights," UNICEF's Executive Director Ann Veneman said.

The report includes calls for improving child-protection systems and promoting social change.

"Understanding the extent of abuses of children's rights is a first step to building an environment where children are protected and have the opportunity to reach their full potential," Veneman said.  FULL STORY

I hasten to point out that children have absolutely NO RIGHTS when kidnapped by CPS.  Particularly their Fourth Amendment Right-

"... to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized".

The kids' rights?  The system says the kids' rights are whatever the government says they are.  "In the child's best interest".  The term itself originates in the 1959 United Nations Declaration of the Rights of the Child, Principle 2 and 7. (http://www.unhchr.ch/html/menu3/b/25.htm)

LIBERTY HAS GIVEN WAY TO TYRANNY

Because Our Constitutional Republic Has Given Way to a Bureaucratic Oligarchy

When Obama promised change, many anticipated fundamental reformation of government. What they got, however, is no fundamental reformation but rather more (much more) of the same old government. The history of the United States from 1938 to the present, whether the people in power were Republicans or Democrats, is one of a transfer of governing power from the separate executive, legislative, and judicial repositories defined in the Constitution to the unelected heads of the federal bureaucracy, growing that bureaucracy into a monolithic giant. That dynamic continues at an accelerated pace in the Obama administration. Today over 90% of all new federal law is the product not of Congress, not of our elected representatives, but of unelected heads of federal agencies who are largely unaccountable to the courts, the Congress, and the American people. Year after year from 1938 to the present, the fundamental direction of the government has been toward greater oligarchic control by an ever mushrooming bureaucracy such that today we may truly say we are governed not by the republic the founding fathers created but by a bureaucratic oligarchy that the founding fathers condemned as the very definition of tyrannyFULL STORY

Fla. lawmakers want action on felonious caregivers
The Associated Press
October 5, 2009

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Florida legislators have pledged to overhaul state law to require background checks for caregivers after a newspaper investigation identified flaws in the screening system that allowed felons to get jobs in day cares and nursing homes.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel investigation found that thousands of people obtained exemptions that granted them permission to work as caregivers for children, the elderly and the disabled despite criminal records that included rape, child abuse and murder.

The proposed new law would require uniform nationwide background checks for all caregivers before they can begin work. It would also require caregivers be rescreened every three years, instead of every five years as under the current law.

"You have people committing terrible crimes working with vulnerable populations. That just doesn't seem appropriate to me," said state Rep. Ari Porth, D-Coral Springs  FULL STORY

We would LOVE for this same background check to apply to CPS employees, their contractor mental illness clinicians, and foster homes. Last year, shocking numbers of Felonious employees at Texas and California CPS were revealed. It is an industry that DOES attract pedophiles and otherwise, the most evil people in our society.

HUD OFFERS $15 MILLION IN GRANTS
TO KEEP FAMILIES TOGETHER

Additional $5 million awarded to 11 housing authorities across U.S.

SPOKANE, Wash. - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced today that it is making $14.6 million in grants available to help local housing authorities across the country reunite thousands of children with their parents. The children are either in foster care or there is a threat of being placed in the foster care system. Local housing authorities must apply for the money by December 3, 2009. Additionally, 11 public housing authorities will receive $5.4 million immediately. To read the full text of the funding notice announced today, visit HUD's website.

HUD Deputy Secretary Ron Sims announced the available funding at Housing Washington 2009, the 16th Annual Affordable Housing Conference in Spokane.

"It's fitting that I announce these available grants to unite families here in Spokane, since I feel like I'm among family," said Sims, himself a Spokane native. "Earlier this week, President Obama proclaimed Family Day on September 28th (just one day? We sure didn't see that one) to emphasize the positive impact a loving, caring family has on children . Building strong, engaging families must first begin with a stable home. This funding will provide families the opportunity to safe, decent affordable housing for them and their children."

This funding, that will support approximately 1,940 vouchers, will be available to public housing authorities through HUD's Family Unification Program (FUP), which provides rental assistance to families whose lack of adequate housing is a primary cause of parents being separated or near-separated from their children. In addition this funding is used to help provide stable housing for young adults (ages 18-21) who have aged-out of the foster care system. These vouchers, like HUD's Housing Choice Vouchers, allow a family to rent housing from a private landlord and generally pay 30 percent of the family's monthly adjusted gross income towards rent and utilities.

The total 2009 funding is $20 million and, in addition to the $14.6 million in grants for housing authorities to apply for, 11 housing agencies will receive $5.4 million immediately. These agencies submitted qualified applications for 2008 funding, but were not awarded grants because all available funding was expended. Specific instructions in the 2008 funding notice guaranteed that approvable applications would receive money if funding was made available in 2009.

According to statistics from the National Center for Housing and Child Welfare (NCHCW), an affordable housing/child welfare advocacy group, keeping children in foster care is an expensive alternative to affordable housing. On average, it costs more than $48,000 annually per family when children enter foster care. By contrast, housing and services to keep a family together costs approximately $15,000 annually. Supportive services for FUP families and youth are provided by agencies funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. A $20 million investment in FUP vouchers saves more than $134 million in foster care costs.

Housing authorities that are awarded vouchers work closely with local public welfare agencies to identify youth at risk of homelessness and families for whom the lack of adequate housing is a primary reason the family's children are in, or must be placed in, foster care.

Looks like a plain statement that most kids are being kidnapped by CPS because of the parent's joblessness and poverty.  It has nothing, NOTHING to do with any abuse.  So why does CPS need to do the on parents in order to steal the kids?  The character assassination renders the parents unemployable FOREVER because they end up on the Child Abuse Registries.  Also note this all flies in the face of the LAW [42 U.S.C. § 671 (a) (15) Reasonable Efforts and 42 U.S.C. § 671 (a) (19) Relative Placement] that CPS is supposed to obey in order to receive the Federal Funding.  This gigantic FRAUD is why we are HOPPING MAD.

"Do you suppose there could be a better way to deal with
families with problems than kidnap the kids and dope
them out of their skulls, terrorize the parents, and run
everybody through ungodly legal abuse?"

DCS: Mom did not try to sell baby
The Tennessee Department of Children's Services now says a Nashville mother did not try to sell her baby.
Perhaps CPS lied about it- like usual?
Posted: 10:50 PM Oct 5, 2009

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Tennessee Department of Children's Services now says a Nashville mother did not try to sell her baby.

Eleven-day-old Yair Anthony Carillo and his three siblings are in foster care for now.

State investigators say they were following up on allegations Maria Gurrolla tried to sell the infant. But Tuesday, they dismissed their case.

Authorities found Yair on Friday, three days after his mother told police a woman claiming to be an immigration agent stabbed her eight times and took him.

Tammy Renee Silas, 39, is in custody on federal kidnapping charges.

She hasn't been charged with the stabbing.

The mother and baby are expected to be reunited for good soon.  What about the other 3 kids CPS kidnapped for "safety concerns"?

LET’S PACK THE COURTROOM: IMPORTANT CHILD WELFARE CIVIL RIGHTS CASES

On Wednesday, October 7, 2009, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit will hear argument on four very important civil rights cases involving child welfare. All of them involve the overriding claim by ACS that it should have unfettered discretion to remove children and prosecute parents and never be held accountable in federal court. Carolyn Kubitschek will argue for all four plaintiffs and their children. Other issues include:

-Whether a parent can seek redress in the federal court for wrongful removals by ACS of children from their families

-Whether ACS caseworkers and attorneys have absolute immunity, even if they prosecute innocent parents for neglect and abuse

-The rights of Kinship Foster Parents and Children

-ACS reliance on Dr. Deborah Esernio-Jenssen of Long Island Jewish Hospital in accusing parents of Shaken Baby Syndrome.

These cases are very important for Family Preservation Advocates because at present, with the exception of few landmark cases, Federal Courts do not want to hear Family Court matters and they usually refer the cases back to Family Court were given the fact that there is no Jury Trial or Due Process parents have no chance of justice.

Carolyn Kubitschek has successfully won 2 landmark cases against ACS in Federal Court: Tenenbaum v. Williams, and Nicholson v. Scoppetta. See the Lansner & Kubitschek website at http://www.lansnerkubitschek.com

We are hoping for a large turnout to show support at the argument. Please come if at all possible. Please dress at your best, conservative like an attorney or like you were going to church or getting married, ties and jackets, etc. Also, you must remain completely silent and not give any cheers, applause, nods, etc. Thanks.

The argument will be at the new federal courthouse at-

The New Journalism - Challenging The Status Quo
By Jane Bryant
The One Click Group
Sun, October 4th, 2009. 05:10 am

Certain people like myself have been driven by the damage done to our children by illness, indifference and stigma to the point of creating a new communications system. This transcends the typical news systems so deeply compromised and ridded by conflicts of interest. Featuring police brutality, false arrest, devastating case histories, media corruption, hope for the future and strategies that we can deploy all together to correct injustice and challenge the status quo, One Click Group Director Jane Bryant says: "It is not the capacity for the internet to create social unrest that governments around the world have got to worry about, but the social, medical, legal and political cohesion that it can create to challenge the status quo and injustice, breaching all walls and boundaries throughout the world. This is the greatest threat of all."- Jane Bryant, National Vaccine Information Center Conference Speech, United States of America

GSK Cervarix Vaccine Adverse Events And Fatalities Exposed

Just weeks before GlaxoSmithKline plans to introduce its new Pandemrix H1N1 ‘swine-flu’ vaccine, a girl of 14 years old (Natalie Morton of Coventry, UK) dies, a few hours after receiving one of its other vaccines (Cervarix) for the ‘prevention’ of cervical cancer. As with GSK's Pandemrix Swine Flu vaccine, public domain information on the Cervarix trials, such as that held by the European Medicines Agency (EMEA) does not hold up too well to public scrutiny. If the ASO4 adjuvant were to be shown to be responsible for causing serious adverse events or fatalities in the Cervarix vaccine, other than those laid out in the trial data, it would not only destroy sales of that vaccine, but it would seriously hurt future prospects of any other vaccine based on the same or similar technology. Ergo, failure of Cervarix just isn’t an option. The take home message – before taking a vaccine or any other drug product for that matter – do not rely on doctors reassurances, or even the product leaflet. JAB 'AS DEADLY AS THE CANCER'
Sunday October 4,2009
By Lucy Johnston
Daily Express | UK News

THE cervical cancer vaccine may be riskier and more deadly than the cancer it is designed to prevent, a leading expert who developed the drug has warned.

She also claimed the jab would do nothing to reduce the rates of cervical cancer in the UK.

Speaking exclusively to the Sunday Express, Dr Diane Harper, who was involved in the clinical trials of the controversial drug Cervarix, said the jab was being “over-marketed” and parents should be properly warned about the potential side effects.

Parents should be informed about the possible side effects / pic posed by model
Authorities in the UK should be on the alert because its sister vaccine, Gardasil, used in America, has already been associated with 32 deaths, she said.

Her comments follow the death of 14-year-old Natalie Morton, who collapsed an hour after receiving the jab at school last week.  FULL STORY

5 Colo. counties hire strategist to fight proposed child-welfare takeover
Five have chipped in to hire a strategist to oppose a proposed state takeover of the services.

Five counties are paying $1,200 each for a political consultant (spin doctor) to help fight a proposal that would allow the state to take over county responsibilities of child welfare and social services.

Since the recommendations from a governor-appointed committee were given to Gov. Bill Ritter earlier this week, counties big and small have been in uproar. (caught in their murderous deeds)

So far, Boulder, Jefferson, Arapahoe, Mesa and Douglas counties have committed $1,200 each toward hiring strategist Katy Atkinson to help them with communications and messaging for the next six weeks.

Ritter has agreed to meet with them before making any decisions. Changing the county-state structure with human services would require legislation.

"Sometimes we're not the best at telling our own story," said Barbara Drake, Douglas County human-services chief.   FULL STORY

They have no trouble telling their story when they're kidnapping a kid.  In fact, they have their lines memorized.  Maybe they aren't good at ad-libbing.  Then again, they aren't dealing with people they can threaten and terrorize like parents, so now they have to go for Psy-Op and PR.  How about shutting CPS down and putting a bunch of their employees on trial for MURDER?

State Report Recommends State Takeover Of Welfare, Child Protection
Governor's Committee Formed After CALL7 Investigation Found Problem With Child Protection System

UPDATED: 6:52 pm MDT October 1, 2009

DENVER -- A governor's committee report called for sweeping changes to the welfare and child protection systems, recommending the state take over major aspects of human services in Colorado.

The Governor's Welfare Action Committee was set up after a series of CALL7 investigations highlighted problems with the way the Denver Department of Human Services protected children.

“There is little or no accountability in this system because the responsibility is so shared and nobody -- not even the legislature -- really understands how things happen or don't happen," said Shari Shink, executive director of the Rocky Mountain Children's Law Center and a member of the action committee.

The system is so fragmented that it didn't protect Chandler Grafner, who starved in a closet after caregivers did not feed him. Various counties did not communicate and there was no follow up to complaints from Chandler's school, the CALL7 investigation found. There were five other children under DDHS care who died. Baby Snatch Victim Loses Custody of Kids

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A mother whose newborn was kidnapped by a knife-wielding woman posing as an immigration agent was briefly reunited with her baby Saturday, then saw him and her three other children taken from her and put into state custody.

Rob Johnson, a spokesman for the Tennessee Department of Children's Services, said the children were taken from their mother, Maria Gurrolla, "purely for safety reasons," though he would not detail why the state deemed they were in danger.

"Our focus is on the children, and under the current situation right now, we think the safest thing to do is take the children into state custody," he said.  Oh the pompous self-righteousness!  Oh the sanctimony!  Oh the OFFICIOUSNESS!  Oh the pretended Moral Authority!

Gurrolla, 30, was stabbed in her home Tuesday, just four days after giving birth to Yair Anthony Carillo, who was snatched by the attacker.

Nashville police said the baby was found in good health Friday night at a home in Ardmore, Ala., about 80 miles south of Nashville near the Tennessee line.

Irony ringing like a bell-

"We need to get the word out to our immigrant communities," Nahirny said. "Anybody that claims they are from federal law enforcement agencies, you have the right and you should ask for photo identification." Actually, you have a lot more RIGHTS than that.

Abductions of infants by strangers are rare (not counting CPS, the strangest of strangers and Domestic Terrorists, whose abductions are COMMON), with nine reported cases so far this year and five last year, according to the missing child center.

Nahirny said immigrant families have been targets of child abductions because of the assumption they will not tell police.  FULL STORY

DEMAND THE ARREST OF KEVIN JENNINGS
By Dr. Judith Reisman
October 3, 2009
NewsWithViews.com

Many Americans logically anticipate the resignation of President Obama’s “Safe Schools” Czar Kevin Jennings of the US Department of Education. It was in his pedagogic capacity that Jennings advised a 15-year-old boy who was being sexually violated by an adult male, to submit to two years of abuse, and to thus risk a broad spectrum of venereal diseases including AIDS. Instead of reporting the crime to the police, as the law requires, Jennings advised the boy to use condoms during sodomy (unsafe, illegal). Hence:

    • Jennings’ criminal conspiracies DISqualify him as Obama’s “safe schools” czar.
    • Jennings’ criminal conspiracies DO qualify him for immediate arrest and trial.
    • To suborn is to “induce (a person) to commit an unlawful or evil act.”
    • Jennings suborned ongoing sex crimes against a minor (child sex abuse)
    • Jennings was guilty of suborning “Child Abuse/Neglect and Endangerment.”

President Obama’s choice is known as the savvy community organizer who created GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network as well as GLSTN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Teachers' Network.

Jennings’ criminal collusion in the boy’s years of rape was confirmed in an audiotape released by Fox News. The lad was seduced in a "bus station bathroom" and violated at a man’s home. Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council reports that in "One Teacher in 10," Jennings brags that due to Jennings’ sexual encouragement the boy "left my office with a smile on his face that I would see every time I saw him on the campus for the next two years, until he graduated." Of course, Jennings only saw what he desired to see.

GLSEN is as it says, a “network,” organized to demonize the normal, natural sexual life. This network would limit employment in schools, libraries, youth groups, research grants, etc., to those who share their homoerotic visions.

In 1996 one of the “network,” Gay and Lesbian Adolescent Social Services (GLASS), was exposed as systemically abusing children in their “five group homes.” The Washington Times reported:

[S]staff members, members of the GLASS board of directors, and volunteers sexually abused or molested children. A night supervisor was accused of sodomy and threatening children, while a volunteer gave children dildos and made pornographic magazines.

The headlines in this cryptic story (ignored by The Washington Post), might have noted the fact that the agency confessed to these crimes.

Nevertheless, typical of what is emerging as a “politically correct” view of homosexual child abuse, criminal charges were not filed against the confessed child molesters—even considering their abuse of authority. Their license was “put on probation for five years.” Gosh.

This “private, non-profit 501(c)(3) social service agency” caring for “children and youth who are in foster care, on probation, or who are homeless,” is still open.  FULL STORY

State's child welfare reforms draw praise
By Julie Bykowicz

Two days after a state senator said Maryland Human Resources Secretary Brenda Donald's signature child welfare program was "not working," Donald received a warm reception - even applause - when she appeared before another group of lawmakers Thursday.

At a briefing for the Joint Committee on Children, Youth and Families, Donald summarized how she believes "Place Matters", which she launched two years ago, is working to improve outcomes for vulnerable children. Under this new approach, the department focuses on reuniting foster children with their own families or keeping them in family settings, which has reduced the state's reliance on group home beds by nearly half.

Donald said she is evaluating the quality of group homes across the state and being selective about the ones with which the state contracts - a radical departure from years past.

"It is refreshing to us that you get it and are doing such a good job," said Sen. Nancy J. King, a Montgomery County Democrat. King's comment drew applause from the audience.

Donald wasn't greeted so warmly on her last trip to Annapolis. Her Tuesday testimony to the Senate committee that oversees social services wasn't a "pleasant experience," as Sen. Joan Carter Conway noted after grilling the secretary for more than an hour.

Conway, a Baltimore Democrat, said she doesn't like the way group homes have been treated under Place Matters. A room full of angry group home providers agreed.

On Thursday, Sen Bobby A. Zirkin, a Baltimore County Democrat who pushed for the kind of group home reform Donald is now undertaking, warned her she'd continue to be pummeled with complaints because providers are losing money and going out of business (38 have lost Department of Human Resources contracts so far).

"You're going to get a torrent of criticism by those who have a vested interest in what was a broken system," he said.

Kinship Care More Beneficial Than Foster Care, Study Finds

ScienceDaily (June 4, 2008) -- Children removed from their homes after reports of (alleged) maltreatment have significantly fewer behavior problems three years after placement with relatives than if they are put into foster care, according to new research at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Vulnerable Children Fare Well With Relatives, Study Finds

ScienceDaily (Jan. 21, 2009) — Placing vulnerable children with relatives is a viable option, a new study by Cochrane Researchers suggests. In view of several recent high profile child abuse cases, the study may have important policy implications.

"We don't know what type of out-of-home care is best for children. But our research suggests that children placed with relatives do as well or better than those placed with foster parents," says lead researcher Marc Winokur, who works at the Social Work Research Center at Colorado State University in the US.

"There are more than half a million children and youth in the U.S. foster care system today. Studies reveal that children are 11 times more likely to be abused in state care than they are in their own homes, and 7 times more likely to die as a result of abuse in the foster care system."-- John Walsh Show April 16, 2003

By a vote of 219-212 on June 26, the US House of Representatives passed the mind numbing 1200 page American Clean Energy Security Act of 2009 (H.R. 2454). Since it was first introduced on May 15, very little discussion was allowed. “We're taking decisive and historic action,” said the committee Chairman Henry Waxman, (D-CA). Waxman is responsible for piloting the bill through the House along with his co-sponsor, Ed Markey (D-MA). While Waxman may be right that the bill is decisive and historic, most economists claim it is a massive energy tax under the guise of protecting the environment. It will give us large reductions in our standard of living, huge job losses and a radical turn toward big government with a corresponding loss of individual freedomFULL STORY

Providing Balance: America's Homeschoolers

Everyone has a story about the pathetic state of the public schools. But from the government's perspective public schools are anything but failures. Lots of patronage and union jobs assuring a set of reliable serfs who will time after time vote back in the same policy makers; a steady supply of tax-funded income along with built-in excuses for increasing funding ("these kids aren't learning because they don't have the resources," [never, "we failed to teach"]); a new crop of non-critical thinking subjects added to the voting base with each class of "graduates" so-called. With this toxic stew of course nothing meaningful will ever change.  FULL STORY

Obama's 'gay' appointee: I'd handle student differently
But Office of Safe Schools chief declines to express 'regret'

The homosexual activist picked by the Obama administration to oversee the Office of Safe Schools in the U.S. Department of Education now claims he should have handled a situation while he was a teacher involving a sexually active student "differently," but the statement from Kevin Jennings fails to express "regret."

WND has reported on Jennings' philosophies several times, including just days ago when the Washington Times encouraged him to "come clean" about his actions in the encounter with the 15-year-old student.

"A teacher was told by a 15-year-old high school sophomore that he was having homosexual sex with an 'older man.' At the very least, statutory rape occurred. Fox News reported that the teacher violated a state law requiring that he report the abuse. That former teacher, Kevin Jennings, is President Obama's 'safe school czar.' ... Clearly, the process for vetting White House employees has broken down," the Times editorial board said.

"In this one case in which Mr. Jennings had a real chance to protect a young boy from a sexual predator, he not only failed to do what the law required but actually encouraged the relationship."  FULL STORY

Charges heat up in Planned Parenthood fraud case
Abortion business accused of 'misrepresenting' record

The arguments are getting hotter in a federal case in California that alleges Planned Parenthood, the nation's biggest abortion business, overcharged the federal government for services it provided in violation of the federal False Claims Act.

The law forbids government contractors from submitting "false or fraudulent" claims for payment and also authorizes private individuals to bring a legal action against the offenders to recover the overpayments.  So how about CPS?

According to the details of a statement from the American Center for Law and Justice, a district court opinion mishandled several issues in a case brought by a former Planned Parenthood staff member who is now a federal whistleblower.

The lower court dismissed the case, so the ACLJ is bringing the case to appeal, submitting a new brief that challenges Planned Parenthood's statements about the case.  FULL STORY

N.Y. Health Care Workers Revolt Over H1N1 Vaccine
Saying They Should Be Given A Choice, Employees Rally In Albany, Around State, Chant "No Forced Shots!"
Protesters Hold Signs That Read: "The State Doesn't Own My Body'"

Reporting Jennifer McLogan

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (CBS) -  They're upset over an ultimatum from the health department.

Workers are being told to either get the swine flu vaccine or lose their jobs.

New York is the first state in the country to mandate flu vaccinations for its health care workers. The first doses of swine flu vaccine will be available beginning next week. Much of it is reserved for state health care workers, but there is growing opposition to required innoculations.

Health care workers in Hauppauge screamed "No forced shots!" as they rallied Tuesday against the state regulation requiring them to roll up their sleeves.  FULL STORY

Social Service Agency Workers Charged in Deadly Fraud Scheme
MultiEthnic Behavioral Health, Inc. Charged with Fraud Scheme Involving Multi-Million Dollar City Contract

PHILADELPHIA—United States Attorney Laurie Magid today announced the filing of a 21-count indictment charging eight employees of a social service agency with defrauding the City of Philadelphia and the federal government by falsely claiming to provide social services to needy families and then billing the City for the services. A ninth employee is charged with a single count of lying to a federal grand jury. The indictment alleges that the fraud scheme was carried out by employees of MultiEthnic Behavioral Health, Inc. (“MEBH”) and contributed to the death of a 14-year-old girl for whom the City’s Department of Human Services had hired MEBH to provide services. Joining in today’s announcement were Health and Human Services Special Agent-in-Charge Pat Doyle, FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Janice Fedarcyk, and Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham.

The indictment alleges 12 counts of wire fraud, six counts of health care fraud, one count of conspiracy to obstruct a federal investigation, one count of providing a false statement to federal agents, and one count of perjury before a federal grand jury. Charged in the indictment are MEBH co-founders Mickal Kamuvaka, Solomon Manamela, Earle McNeill, and Manuelita Buenaflor; and MEBH workers Julius Juma Murray, Miriam Coulibaly, Christiana Nimpson, and Sotheary Chan. MEBH worker Patricia Burch is charged with one count of perjury.  FULL STORY

If the FBI would investigate every CPS office in the country, every CPS employee would lie like the dirty dogs they are to the FBI.  EVERY ONE OF THEM are pathological LIARS and the entire system is an Organized Crime Ring that is "defrauding ... the federal government by falsely claiming to provide social services to needy families and then billing... for the services."  All they are doing is kidnapping kids, hold them for ransom until they can Assassinate the parents' Character, and then adopting the kids out to collect the Adoption Bonus.  Or put in the kids in "Residential Treatment Centers" to dope them out of their heads to collect their Social Security Medicare for being "Special Needs" at about $12,000 a month.  CPS is the very definition of the word- FRAUD.

From the internet-

These everyday horrors of foster care don’t get much notice; they accumulate over years, and they are often hidden by confidentiality laws that protect not the children but the child welfare system itself. So the public, understandably, assumes that the only mistake the system makes is to keep children in dangerous homes. -Alexandra Shipula, TX

WND: Media Gag Homosexual Factor in Frank Lombard Duke Boy Rape Case
Would exposure of the Lombard case hurt Obama’s pet cause of homosexual adoption?
Peter LaBarbera
Americans For Truth About Homosexuality

Where’s the media frenzy? Duke University official Frank Lombard is accused of raping his adopted 5-year-old son and attempting to induce someone to cross state lines to engage in sex with the boy. The same media and Duke professors who were all over the bogus 2006 Duke lacrosse “rape” case are not interested in this horrifying homosexual adoption-rape story.

Folks, the jaundiced liberal media deserves much blame for the deterioration of American culture and the collective erosion of morality. Political correctness and identity politics destroy common sense by shielding favored classes and causes from criticism. Ask yourself: what logical reason is there that Matthew Shepard not Jesse Dirkhising is a household name in this country? (And don’t respond that Shepard was targeted “just because he was gay” because that is not true.)

This creep Frank Lombard and anyone — straight, “gay” or bisexual — convicted of the rape of a young child like this ought to be a candidate for automatic life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty, in my view. Homosexuals may not yet have achieved full “protected class” status in the law, but they sure have achieved it in the media. Kudos to WorldNetDaily and UNC professor-scribe Mike Adams for taking up the watchdog role to which journalists with integrity once aspired. FULL STORY

New Term (to me anyway). "Social Distancing"- a concept that would stop the pandemic spread of many bad things.  Such as "Socialization of the children" in the government schools.  The concept of "Social Distancing" is one that could find wide-spread application in any number of areas.  I think the term could be synonymous with "Liberty", "Freedom", and "Independence".

Study prompts provinces to rethink flu plan
Report suggests people who get vaccinated are more likely to catch H1N1

Patrick White

Winnipeg — From Monday's Globe and Mail Last updated on Tuesday, Sep. 29, 2009 03:17AM EDT

A “perplexing” Canadian study linking H1N1 to seasonal flu shots is throwing national influenza plans into disarray and testing public faith in the government agencies responsible for protecting the nation's health.

Distributed for peer review last week, the study confounded infectious-disease experts in suggesting that people vaccinated against seasonal flu are twice as likely to catch swine flu.

The paper is under peer review, and lead researchers Danuta Skowronski of the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control and Gaston De Serres of Laval University must stay mum until it's published.  FULL STORY

MIDDLEVILLE, Michigan -- A mother who helps neighbors in the morning by watching their children for a short time before the bus comes has been told she's breaking the law.

Lisa Snyder's house is by the corner bus stop on Thornbird Drive just outside Middleville. Two of her friends who need to leave for work bring their children to her home in the morning before the bus arrives to take them to Thornapple Kellogg schools.

Snyder said she doesn't think she's doing anything wrong, but she was notified by the Michigan Department of Human Services that she has to stop watching the children because her home is not a licensed day-care facility.  FULL STORY

Last March, Sally Harpold of Clinton, Indiana bought a one box of Zyrtec-D cold medicine for her husband. A few days later, she bought a single box of Mucinex-D for her adult daughter, who is the mother of triplets.

Four months later, Mrs. Harpold and her husband were awakened at daybreak by the always unwelcome sound of police banging on their front door. She was arrested and taken away in handcuffs for the purported crime of purchasing more than 3.0 grams of ephedrine or pseudoephedrine (PSE) within a seven-day period.

The grandmother saw her picture plastered on the front page of the local statist media organ (also known as the Terre Haute Tribune-Star newspaper) under the headline “17 Arrested in Drug Sweep.” Charged under Indiana “law” 35-48-4-14.7, Mrs. Harpold faced the prospect of 60 days in jail and a $500 fine — as punishment for buying legal over-the-counter cold preparations in quantities the state’s parasite class considers inappropriate.

Charges reduced, probation for former CPS worker
September 25, 2009 02:45:00 PM
Appeal-Democrat

California- A former Sutter County Child Protective Services worker won't be going to jail for forging a judge's signature on a document authorizing dental surgery for a child.

Sutter County Judge H. Ted Hansen on Friday granted defense attorney Timothy J. Evan's motion to reduce Sarah Jane Powell's felony conviction to a misdemeanor and sentenced her to 36 months probation. Prosecutor Cameron King had requested a 30-day jail sentence.

Hansen cited Powell's lack of a criminal record, her quick confession and what he called her apparent desire to help the child, whose surgery had been delayed for months.

"She pretty much fessed up pretty darn early," Hansen said.

In his 16 years on the bench, Hansen said, he had never seen a case with so many mitigating factors in favor of a light sentence.  FULL STORY

"Most people prefer to believe their leaders are just and fair even in the face of evidence to the contrary, because once a citizen acknowledges that the government under which they live is lying and corrupt, the citizen has to choose what he or she will do about it. To take action in the face of a corrupt government entails risks of harm to life and loved ones. To choose to do nothing is to surrender one’s self-image of standing for principles. Most people do not have the courage to face that choice. Hence, most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all." -- Michael Rivero

Kayla and MaryThis week Sunday's Child features a "package deal." Two little girls who are so close, they're determined to stay together with a forever family.

Ask Kayla and she’ll tell you, “I'm not shy." And she's never at a loss for words either.

The 10-year-old can list all the things she likes to do: read stories, write, talk, go to Six Flags and of course Sea World!

But you really capture her spirit when she describes her 6-year-old sister Mary.

Kayla says, "She's nice, pretty and plays with me."  The little sister lights up, glowing in the compliments.

For three years, Kayla and Mary have lived in foster care with many other children.

Don't miss the Video

According to Marleigh Meisner, (famous spin doctor in the FLDS fiasco last year) spokesperson for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, the agency is committed to keeping them together. (good sales pitch and a free TV ad to boot)

Both girls are very active and smart.  In fact Kayla loves Harry Potter books and Mary makes a great listener.

Now the only thing they're missing is the kind of love every child deserves.  Which they probably had BEFORE they were kidnapped.

Meisner says, “If you believe you can open your heart and your home, we encourage you to contact our agency because we have so many wonderful children waiting to be adopted." So then Texas CPS can come and DESTROY YOUR FAMILY TOO on a flimsy false allegation.

To learn more about Kayla and Mary you can contact Alexandra at 432-368-2436. Or e-mail her at alexandra.arredondo@dfps.state.tx.us

You can see all the children (pound puppies) who are ready for adoption at http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Adoption_and_Foster_Care

"Yeah, um, Alexandra- I was wondering if Kayla and Mary didn't have a single relative in the entire US who was willing to take them in, in order to keep them in the family like the LAW says?  And, um, I wonder if the parents got anything close to Due Process or a Vigorous Defense in the legal abuse process?  Also what would have happened if Kayla and Mary's parents or relatives had put their picture and names out publicly pleading for help and justice?  The news story said I should call".

Naperville Woman Gets 30 Months Prison For False Allegations That Launched DCFS Probe
Saturday, September 19, 2009

JOLIET, Illionis--(ENEWSPF)--September 19, 2009.

Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow announced that a Naperville woman who wrote a series of anonymous letters that threatened and frightened Naperville School District 203 officials has been sentenced to 30 months in prison.

Rita Mueller, 50, was found guilty in February of disorderly conduct. In 2005, Mueller sent an anonymous letter to the principal of B.J. Ward Elementary School in Bolingbrook falsely alleging that a student at the school was being sexually abused by her father. The student was the daughter of a Naperville School District employee.

The one-count bill of indictment, handed up in August 2007, alleged that Mueller knew the principal was mandated by law to report the accusations to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, which launched an investigation that eventually cleared the father of the false allegations.

Associate Judge Edward Burmila sentenced Mueller Friday morning and ordered her taken into custody immediately by Will County Sheriffs Police.

Throughout 2005 and 2006, Mueller embarked on a bizarre and abusive anonymous letter-writing campaign that targeted a variety of Naperville School District officials. She admitted to police that she sent a package containing feces to one school official and what appeared to be a used condom to another.  FULL STORY

False allegations are pandemic, and many are just as bizarre.
