It is a governing principle of nature, that the agency which can produce most good, when perverted from its proper aim, is most productive of evil. It behooves the well-intentioned, therefore, vigorously to watch the tendency of even their most highly prized institutions, since that which was established in the interests of the right, may so easily become the agent of the wrong.  -James Fenimore Cooper

It is the invariable habit of bureaucracies, at all times and everywhere, to assume...that every citizen is a criminal. Their one apparent purpose, pursued with a relentless and furious diligence, is to convert the assumption into a fact. The real abuse and neglect of America's children comes from the government prohibition of punishment for bad behavior.  Spanking is a high offense in our urine-soaked politically correct social-experiment society.  I have even heard of "excessive time outs" alleged as abuse.  Left with no suitable tools to deal with bad behavior and rebellion, parents have to resign to letting the kids raise themselves in the pop culture of his peers.  Parents can only dread the day the kid finally lands the family in the distorted fishbowl of the family court system.Parents have no help, allies or friends, only institutionalized wolves. Such a kid has almost no chance to grow up to be anything but a non- productive narcissistic thug and incompetent consumer of government programs. Isn't that ABUSE? -Leonard Henderson
Isaiah 3
4 And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.

5 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbor: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honorable.

12 As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.

Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. Do not be too severe upon their errors, but reclaim them by enlightening them. If once they become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress, and Assemblies, Judges, and Governors, shall all become wolves. - Thomas Jefferson (letter to Edward Carrington, 16 January 1787)
